Cockroaches
There are two types of cockroaches that can be treated by the TDC Pest Control team, including German and oriental cockroaches.
Signs you may have a cockroach infestation
There are numerous ways in which you can confirm if you are experiencing a cockroach infestation, as both the German and oriental cockroach differ slightly in appearance. German cockroaches can be found in warm, moist environments such as a bathroom or kitchen; in comparison, the oriental cockroach can often be seen moving throughout the beams and rafters in your household.
Cluster flies
Cluster flies pose no threat to humans, as unlike other flies, they do not lay their eggs on human food. However, these flies inhabit properties during the summer months in order to hibernate, ‘clustering’ together in large volumes to consequently become an irritant in the household. They have been known to emit a sickly sweet, almond smell in which can also be unpleasant in the home. Additionally, when these flies do reach hibernation in your home, if they are left untreated, they will tend to return to that property year after year.
How cluster flies are treated
The characteristic ball of flies has to be established for at least 7 days until it can be treated; only after this amount of time will the insecticide affect the entire fly population. The pest controller will ‘fog’ an insecticide upon the cluster of flies. Once all of the flies have been destroyed, the bodies can easily be removed and disposed of by using a vacuum cleaner.
Moths
Moths are butterfly-like insects which vary in colour and size. Small, dark headed maggot-like larvae may also be seen. Often feeding on fine, natural textiles such as cashmere and silk, moths have extremely good taste in quality materials and can ruin clothing if left untreated.
There are commonly two types of moth that may require pest control treatment:
